Hahaha! I hope he was joking because I didn’t mean to convey such a strict “send me ALL the receipts” policy.

Jack Dawson… Penniless artist who wins a ticket onto Titanic in 1912, attends a first class dinner, develops a taste for the finer things in life, pockets the Heart of the Ocean, survives the sinking, pawns the diamond, spends the following ten years building his wealth and in 1922 moves to West Egg as Jay Gatsby… Millionaire with a shady past and fear of swimming pools.

MIND BLOWN.

And that’s how Titanic became the prequel to The Great Gatsby.

I love it! Haven’t yet seen the Great Gatsby though.

Earlier today I was still reading reports about the storms that rolled through Kansas yesterday and it sent chills down my spine to know how lucky we were. The atmosphere broke and the storms we were under couldn’t connect with the ground and reach their deadly potential. Wichita dodged a bullet, yet again. And then this afternoon happened, and Moore Oklahoma…a city less than 200 miles from here…is devastated.

I don’t know whether storm season is getting stronger every year, or if we’re all just more connected and warned ahead of time. The advance warning doesn’t make it any less terrifying, but damn, I hope that more people take the warnings seriously.

My heart goes out to Moore Oklahoma. The next few days and weeks will be rough for them as they recover missing people, and sift through the debris trying to find pieces of their homes and lives to salvage. The cleanup and rebuilding will start immediately, but won’t be done anytime soon. Keep them in your thoughts, and donate if/when/whatever you can to reputable/upstanding organizations.

This is what my afternoon looks like.

The original plan was to give me a quick ride after the helicopter had been to his daughter’s school and back tomorrow morning. When offered the chance to ride along to Newton for fuel, of course I said, “Yes!”

We toured the area, hovered over another passenger’s house so he could get an photo of his pond from above, chased a coyote until it cowered in a tree-line to get away from us and swirled around a field of wheat with wind from our blades.

Just another boring day in the office. :P

Someone put a helicopter in my parking space.

This is Daisy. She’s the puppy who lives at my workplace now. Productivity was low today.

She had enough of being chased by the kids so she decided to hang out under the hedges for a while.

I’ve already failed at Photo-A-Day for May. Oh well!

What’s going on? Hmm…two fun things happening at work in the next week or so:

1) Since my office is currently on the owner’s property, and they have two young children - I see a good chunk of family life and activities 5 days a week. Today I found out the family is getting a puppy on Thursday. THERE WILL BE A PUPPY AT WORK! Productivity probably won’t be super high at the end of this week. Or next week.

2) Helicopter ride! Boss (owner + chief pilot) is picking up a helicopter this weekend and will have it for his daughter’s last day of school. I’ve been told a flight with him will ruin any theme park rollercoaster I ever go on for the rest of my life.

I wish I would have found this job years ago.
